Newry House Fire Victim Named

A man who died in a house fire in Newry on Friday was 62-year-old Jimmy Thompson.

Mr Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze which happened in the Parkview area.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gibson said: "Two men were rescued from the property, but sadly one man was later pronounced dead at the scene. Colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were also in attendance during the incident.

"We can confirm that 62 year old Jimmy Thompson died due to smoke inhalation. A second man was taken to hospital following the incident and remains in a critical but stable condition at this time.

"Enquiries are continuing in relation to the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 2294 21/05/21."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A 34-year-old man who has died following an incident in Belfast on Friday 27 May, has been named as David Conville. Mr Conville, from south Belfast, was injured during an altercation in the Abingdon Drive area of the city on Friday night.

Man Who Died In Jet Ski Incident Named
A man who died in a jet ski incident on Lough Erne has been named as 31-year-old Kenny Andrews from Bangor. Searches were being carried out in the Muchross area of Kesh. A 28-year-old man was rescued from the water. The body of Mr Andrews was recovered on Monday, 10 September.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.
