Woman Arrested Over Abuse Allegations At Muckamore Abbey Hospital
A woman has been arrested in relation to allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital on the outskirts of Antrim.
The 52-year-old has been detained in police custody.
She is the 16th person to be arrested as part of a major investigation which was launched in 2017.
A total of seven people have been informed they are to be prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) for a range of offences, including alleged ill-treatment and wilful neglect contrary to the Mental Health Order 1986.
The PPS said another eight people had been reported in a second investigation file.
It remains under consideration.

A 58-year-old woman has been arrested by police investigating allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital on the outskirts of Antrim. She was detained in the Antrim area. Last week, a 52-year-old woman was arrested as part of the investigation and another woman was also arrested this week.
