Pensioners 'badly shaken' following separate robberies
A number of pensioners have been left badly shaken following two separate robberies in south and west Belfast.
In south Belfast one pensioner suffered cuts after tackling three men who broke into her Beechhill Park West house in Newtownbreda at around 10pm on Sunday.
The men forced their way into the house by breaking a window. Despite being confronted by the woman they ransacked the house and took money and savings. A second pensioner in the house was also badly shaken.
In west Belfast, an elderly couple were forced to lock themselves in a room as thieves ransacked their home in Norfolk Drive.
Two youths kicked in the front door just after midnight on Sunday. However, the couple locked themselves in a room while the robbery took place.
Two youths were later arrested by police.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a suspected arson attack at a Sinn Féin office building on the Andersonstown Road in west Belfast in the early hours of this morning, Monday 20 August. Issuing the appeal, Inspector McCullough said: "The fire was reported to us at around 4:50am.

Belfast Hotel Plan Dropped: Report
A government-supported plan to build a hotel in central Belfast has been scrapped, the BBC has reported. Back in 2007, the Department for Social Development appointed Tullymore House Ltd as preferred developer for Armagh House in the city’s Ormeau Avenue, with plans to convert the building into an upmarket hotel.
