Man Shot By Police In L'Derry
A man has been shot by police in L'Derry.
The incident happened in the Top of Hill area at around 10.45pm on Saturday, 17 April.
The victim is being treated in hospital.
A police officer sustained knife wounds to his arm and head and was taken to hospital to be treated.
Sinn Fein MLA Martina Anderson said: "The man is in intensive care in hospital and my first thoughts are that I hope he will survive his injuries.
"A police officer also suffered a stab wound during the incident. Thankfully the officer has been released from hospital and I hope he too makes a full recovery.
"I am deeply shocked that a vulnerable man has been shot by police. I have contacted senior police and the Police Ombudsman to convey my grave concerns that lethal force has been used in this incident.
"The PSNI needs to be provide the public with a full explanation about this shooting of a vulnerable man."

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Colin Horner
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner in Bangor, Co Down. Mr Horner was fatally shot outside a supermarket in from of his young son on 28 May this year. The suspect has been taken to Musgrave police station to be questioned.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
