PE Regulations Lifted At NI Schools
Restrictions which prevented NI schools from hosting Physical Education (PE) classes indoors have been changed.
Previously only non-contact PE could be provided outdoors in a maximum group of 15, but with the new legal changes secured by Education Minister Peter Weir there will be no legal cap on the number of participants. Classes will also be legally allowed to take place either outdoors or indoors.
Minister Weir added: "The benefits of physical and sporting activities in schools are clear. However, the Department would strongly advise that PE should be limited to non-contact sports, dance and other exercise activities at this time."
The DUP MLA worked with the Department of Health and The Executive Office to help resolve the issue.
