Shots Fired At Houses In Co Antrim
Police have said it is by "sheer luck" that no one was injured when shots were fired at two properties in Co Antrim last night.
A lone gunman targeted the houses in Rasharkin's Moneyleck Park at around 9.50pm on Thursday night, 19 March.
The suspect fired two shots that struck a window before shooting twice more at the front of a neighbouring property, where a man in his 20s was in the living room.
Detective Inspector Peter McKenna said: "It is by sheer luck this man, and the occupants of the property, also aged in their twenties, escaped injury. For that we are fortunate.
"This was a reckless attack carried out under the cover of darkness by an individual who showed absolutely no regard for the safety of the victims, or other members of the public.
"There is no place for this in our society. Everyone has a right to live in a safe and stable community, and this type of senseless and reckless criminality will not be tolerated."
Police are working to establish a motive for the attack and have appealed for anyone who was in the area and saw anything out of the ordinary, around the time of the attack or earlier in the day, to come forward.
Witnesses can get in touch by calling non-emergency line 101 and quoting reference 1582 of 19/03/20.
Details can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
