Cookstown firm in £1m investment plan
A Cookstown based firm has announced it is to invest £1 million in plant and capability to develop new business opportunities it has identified for its range of engineering and fabrication services outside Northern Ireland.
Steelweld (Fabrications) Ltd specialises in assembly and metal fabrication services throughout the engineering sector, including plasma and laser cutting, metal forming, welding and fabrication, punching and metal finishing.
Commenting on the Invest NI backed plan, Dominic Crilly, Steelweld’s managing director, said: “This investment will enable us to develop our skills and capability in customer-facing activities. This will enhance our services and enable us to move even closer to our customers that include major engineering businesses with strong export sales.
“To assist our expansion plans, the company recently achieved ISO9001 and is currently working towards Investors in People accreditation. As part of the Company Development Programme, all welders are receiving on-the-job training and weld testing to BSEN 287.
“This focus demonstrates our commitment to our most valuable asset, our employees, and our determination to provide the best possible and most responsive services to all our customers.”
Invest NI’s Omagh Local Office is assisting the company in capability development areas, such as quality, supply chain management, business improvement, IT and marketing.
The company currently employs 40 people, a figure that has increased significantly over the past two years.

Community Projects Receive £1.1m
A total of 16 community groups across Belfast have received total funding of just over £1.1m from City Council. The funding boost is being delivered through the £5m Local Investment Fund (LIF), which is part of the council's wider Investment Programme for the city. The move brings the overall amount allocated through the fund to over £2.

£1.25m For Belfast Community Projects
20 community regeneration projects across Belfast have received funding totalling £1.25m from the City Council. The funding is part of £5m set aside for the Local Investment Fund (LIF). Just under £1.3m is earmarked each to the North, South, East and West of the city and a further £490,000 allocated for the Shankill area.

192 Jobs Announced At Fujitsu, L'Derry
192 jobs are to be created at Fujitsu’s Business Services Centre at Timber Quay in L'Derry. The jobs, including 177 full-time permanent positions and 15 business apprenticeships, are being supported by funding from Invest NI of over £990,000. The move follows a visit to Japan by the First and deputy First Minister this month.
