West Belfast Security Alert Ends

A security alert in west Belfast has ended as police declare a suspicious object in the area as "nothing untoward".

Residents on Kells Avenue have now returned to their homes.

The operation was sparked shortly before 9.15pm last night, Thursday 05 March.

ATO attended the scene and carried out two controlled explosions before declaring the area safe.

Inspector McCullough said: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience. Keeping people safe is of paramount importance."
