Three Charged Over Strabane Funeral Incident

Three men are facing charges in connection with a disturbance at a funeral in Co Tyrone where a number of dangerous weapons were seized.

The 17, 22 and 32 year-olds are charged with several offences, including possessing an offensive weapon and possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place.

Their arrest came about after scuffles broke out during a funeral service on the Melmount Road on Thursday 07 February.

Police seized a number of dangerous weapons from the scene, including Stanley knives and machetes, and said they are aware of tensions between individuals who attended the funeral.

The men will appear at Dungannon Magistrates Court today, 28 February.

Weapons Seized During Co Tyrone Funeral
Three men have been arrested and a number of weapons seized following a disturbance at a funeral in Strabane. No serious injuries occurred during the incident at a church on the Melmount Road this morning, Thursday 27 February, however Stanley knives and a hatchet were among the items removed from the scene.

Man Charged With Terrorism Offences After Weapons Seized In Tyrone
A man has been charged with terrorism offences after weapons were seized in Co Tyrone. Police found weapons and ammunition at a garage unit in the Mountjoy Road area of Coalisland in 2011, as part of an investigation into the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr. The 34-year-old is due to appear in court in Dungannon today, 20 June.

Limavady Man Jailed For Possession Of Homemade Shotgun
A 52-year-old man has been jailed for six years at Laganside Crown Court for possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life. David Bond from Limavady was convicted after he pleaded guilty to the offences following re-arraignment on Tuesday 24 April 2023 at Laganside Crown Court.
