Man Jailed For 1997 Police Station Bomb

A 41 year-old man has been jailed for seven and a half years after an attack on a Co Tyrone police station almost two decades ago.

Paul Campbell was handed the sentence at Belfast Crown Court today, Wednesday 26 February, following the explosion at Coalisland Police Station in March 1997.

The father-of-four was convicted last month after denying any involvement in the attack.

The PSNI welcomed the sentencing. Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell said: "It should send a clear message to those involved in violence - we will vigorously pursue those responsible to bring them before the courts to face the consequences of their actions.

"We will continue to combat the threat posed by those who plan to use violence to further their agendas. We remain committed to making Northern Ireland safer for everyone."
