North Belfast Shooting Sparks Outrage
Those who shot a man in the thigh at a house in north Belfast speak for no one in the local community, Alliance Cllr Nuala McAllister has said.
A man aged in his thirties has been left injured after he was approached by two masked men and taken to an address in the Ardglen Place area where he was shot on Saturday night, 15 February.
Police said a woman and four children under the age of 16 were in the house at the time.
Investigations are underway and police are hunting the gunman, who is described as being between 5'9 to 5'11" tall, aged in his late forties or early fifties and wearing black-coloured trousers, a black coat and a black peaked hat.
The second suspect is described as being taller than the other suspect and wore a peaked cap.
Detective Inspector Andrew George said: "Those who are involved in these attacks do not represent the interests of this community, nor do they contribute anything to it. Nothing gives these people the right to violate the human rights of people, and their actions should be condemned by all."
Cllr McAllister said the actions of the gunmen are "totally unacceptable".
"To carry out the attack in a house where a woman and four children lived is despicable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. I hope the man makes a full and speedy recovery," she commented.
"These people speak for no one in the Ardoyne community and need to be taken off the streets. I would urge anyone with information to pass it to the police on the 101 number or anonymously to the Crimestoppers Charity on 0800 555 111."
Investigation officers can be contacted by quoting reference number 1893 of 15/02/20.
