Man Critical After Being Found In Layby
A man remains in critical condition in hospital after he was found injured in a layby in Co L'Derry.
Police are appealing for information to establish how the individual, aged in his forties, ended up in the vicinity of the Foreglen Road, Claudy on Monday 03 February.
The injured man was discovered shortly after 5.15pm and taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition today.
A second male, aged in his thirties, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
It's understood the incident may be linked to a report of a white Ford Transit van stolen from an address on the Foreglen Road just ten minutes earlier, at 5.05pm.
Detective Inspector McKenna urged those who regularly use the busy route to check their dashcam footage to see if they captured what occurred, or if they captured the white van being driven on the road.
Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call detectives in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference 1456 of 03/02/20. Details can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
