Fire As Petrol Bomb Thrown At Coleraine House

The occupants of a Coleraine house have escaped injury after a petrol bomb was thrown through their living room window.

A fire broke out at the Lodge Road property after a device was launched through the window shortly before 1.40am on Monday 03 February.

Damage was subsequently caused to the living room furniture and floor.

NIFRS attended the scene to extinguish the blaze after the occupants managed to prevent any further damage.

Detective Inspector Peter McKenna said it is "extremely fortunate" that no one was injured by the reckless act.

He added: "We are working to establish a motive for the attack, and would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, around 1.35am, including any cars being driven in a suspicious manner, to contact CID in Coleraine on 101, quoting reference 90 of 03/02/20."
