Shock As Teen Dies In Co Down Street

A Co Down community is in shock after the death of a teenager on Saturday night, 01 February.

Emergency services rushed to Market Street in Bangor following reports of an unresponsive 17 year-old boy shortly after 11pm.

The street was cordoned off by police and an investigation has since been launched.

Alliance Councillor for Bangor Central Karen Douglas said the community offered her condolences following the shock death.

"The death of this young man in Market Street is devastating for his family and friends and I would offer them my deepest sympathies," Cllr Douglas said.

"The circumstances around his death are unclear and I would urge anyone with information that can help the police to pass it to them on the 101 number, or anonymously to the Crimestoppers Charity on 0800 555 111."

Shock As Body Found In Co Down
A man has been released on bail after he was questioned over the death of a man in Co Down. It's understood a body was discovered in a garden in the Rathgill area of Bangor on Tuesday 28 January. Police arrested a 48 year-old man in connection with the death. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Work Starts On Road Improvement Projects In Co Armagh
Contractors have started work on £170,000 road improvement projects in Tandragee, Co Armagh. The schemes are taking place at Irish Street Richhill and Gilford Street. They involve the resurfacing of 1km of roads and where appropriate the reinstatement of footways and verges. To facilitate the schemes, temporary road closures will be in place.

Roads death toll rises after Co Antrim crash
A man has died following a serious road accident on the Glenavy Road in Co Antrim. The accident involved a car and lorry on Wednesday afternoon. The road was closed for a time and traffic was diverted from the area. Police investigating the collision are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Lisburn station on 028 9266 5212.
