£1m Cannabis Seized In Belfast

Three suspects have been arrested following the seizure of £1 million worth of cannabis in Belfast.

The men, aged 61, 43 and 29, remain in custody on suspicion of drug related offences.

They were arrested after officers stopped a car travelling on the Ravenhill Road on Tuesday afternoon, 28 January.

A significant quantity of cannabis was then uncovered during follow up searches at a local address.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan reiterated the PSNI's message that drug dealing activities are a scourge on local communities.

"They use violence and intimidation to maintain their control," DI Mullan said.

"Money spent on cannabis and other drugs is often used to finance criminal gangs involved in other criminality."

Any members of the public with information or concerns about the supply of drugs in their community are advised to contact police on 101 or dial the Crimestoppers anonymous line on 0800 555 111.
