Arrest As Murder Probe Launched Over Craigavon Death
A 40 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a sudden death in Craigavon.
The PSNI's Major Investigation Team have commenced a murder probe into the death of a 25 year-old in the Lake Road area on Thursday night, 16 January.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out in due course.
Police have advised of disruption to residents and motorists in the Lake Road and Clonmeen areas as they continue to conduct enquiries.
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart said the local community has been left in shock.
Condemning the incident, the DUP representative said: "This is obviously a very sad situation for the family of the deceased man and my thoughts are with them at this time. A young life cut off in its prime.
"It is shocking to wake up to the news that another life has been needlessly taken."
Ms Lockhart urged anyone with information to contact police immediately and called for space to allow the investigation to continue.
Local Councillor Margaret Tinsley added: "This is devastating news that a young life has been ended in this way. My thoughts are with the family of the young man as they come to terms with such a loss. The local community are in shock and I have asked the police to increase their visibility to restore confidence once again. I too would encourage anyone with any information to come forward to the PSNI."
