Knife Wielding Man Robs Co Down Off-Licence

A woman working in a Co Down off-licence has been left badly shaken after a masked knife-wielding man robbed the premises.

The business in the Movilla Street area of Newtownards was targeted shortly before 8pm on Tuesday evening, 14 January.

Police said the suspect entered the off-licence armed with a knife and demanded money from a female member of staff before making off towards the town centre with a sum of cash.

The woman was not injured but has been left badly shaken.

The suspect is described as being between 5'8" and 5'10" in height and of slim build. He wore a dark coloured hooded top, a balaclava and black gloves.

Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1632 of 14/01/20. Details can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Three men in court over carjacking
Three men were due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today in connection with the hijacking of a car on the outskirts of Belfast. A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man will be charged with hijacking, while a 21-year-old man will be charged with aiding and abetting the hijacking.

Police are appealing for information following a robbery at an off-licence in north Belfast. The incident occurred at premises on the Antrim Road on Monday at around 4.20pm. A man, who claimed he had a knife, made off with a small sum of cash. The suspect is described as around 5ft in tall and of slim build.
