Elderly Woman Held Down During Burglary

An elderly woman has been left shaken after being restrained for some time in her Co Antrim home while masked men ransacked the property.

The woman, aged in her 70s, was at home in the Creemavoy Road area of Broughshane when the burglars struck on Tuesday evening, 03 December.

The three men, who claimed to be from a paramilitary organisation, entered the property shortly after 8pm and searched it while one of them restrained the victim.

The ordeal continued for around an hour before the trio left with a sum of money, climbing a gate at the back of the house to make their escape.

While the woman was uninjured, she has been left badly shaken.

Detectives are investigating and have asked anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them in Ballymena on 101 quoting reference number 1787 of 03/12/19.

Pensioner Burgled In East Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was burgled in east Belfast. The 90-year-old woman was left shaken after three men broke into her property in Abbey Park at around 8pm on Thursday. They made off with a sum of money and the woman's handbag. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.
