Leicester trio to spend another night in jail
Northern Ireland and Leicester football star, Keith Gillespie is to spend another night behind bars after a Spanish judge adjourned proceedings today to consider bail applications from the player and his two team mates, Paul Dickov and Frank Sinclair.
Mr Gillespie, Mr Dickov and Mr Sinclair had expected to hear today whether the senior Spanish judge would sanction their release following a review of legal submissions handed into court on Saturday.
All three men are being held at the Murcia jail on sexual assault charges.
The charges relate to an incident at an Alicante hotel room involving three German women during a recent Leicester City training trip.
On Sunday, Kelly Maguire, the girlfriend of the Northern Ireland winger, spent two-and-a-half hours at the jail with the players' lawyer, Ana Ruiperez.
The three players are said to be "doing well" after spending the weekend in jail.
Three other players, Matt Elliott, Lilian Nalis and James Scowcroft were released on "provisional liberty" by the court.
Paul Dickov, Frank Sinclair, James Scowcroft and Lilian Nalis had been questioned over alleged sexual aggression and breaking and entering. Matt Elliott and Keith Gillespie were questioned over other allegations.
Two other Leicester players, Danny Coyne and Nikos Dabizas, were also provisionally released, while another player, Steffen Freund, was released without charge.
The released players have since returned to the UK.
