Car Strikes Cyclist In Bangor Hit & Run

A cyclist has been struck by a vehicle in a hit and run collision in Bangor.

The male cyclist, aged in his 40s, was cycling on the Donaghadee Road Roundaout when he was hit by a blue Vauxhall Corsa at around 9.30am on Sunday morning, 27 October.

Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene.

The man received hospital treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to come forward, including those with dash cam footage. Investigating officers can be contacted on 101 quoting reference number 593 of 27/10/19.

Police are also keen to speak to another cyclist who had stopped at the scene to assist the injured man before leaving.

Funeral held for teenage cyclist killed in North Belfast
The funeral of the teenage cyclist killed when his bicycle was struck buy a car was held on Friday. The private funeral service for 16-year-old Thomas McDonald took place from his home in the White City area of Newtownabbey. Hundreds of people lined the Whitewell Road as the cortege of mourners passed the spot where the youth was killed.

Pensioner Victim Of Derry Hit And Run
A frail pensioner has been injured in a hit and run collision. The 80-year-old woman was walking along the Racecourse Road in Londonderry on Sunday morning when she was struck by a white car that failed to stop. Police say the woman was taken to hospital where she is being treated for a broken leg.

Irish Footballer Charged With Drink Driving
Everton and Republican of Ireland star, Darron Gibson, originally from L'Derry, has been charged after allegedly hitting a cyclist and a petrol pump near his home in Altrincham, Manchester. The former Manchester United midfielder has been accused of crashing his car and fleeing the scene.
