Contech Medical expansion to create 80 new jobs
A leading medical device manufacturing and packaging company has announced it is to create 80 new jobs in Galway.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Harney said the decision by Contech Medical Ltd to expand in the area was "an acknowledgement of the Galway facility" by the parent company.
The majority of the new jobs will be in the operations area at the Galway plant at Parkmore Business Park West, bringing total employment to 118 people when fully implemented within four years. It is planned to have up to 40 of the new jobs filled by mid-2004.
The expansion is the result of additional out-sourcing business from both existing and new customers in Europe and the US. The 15,000 sq. ft. facility is to be extended to 35,000 sq. ft. and will include further clean-room, office and warehousing space.
