Storm Lorenzo Brings Weather Warning For NI
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for Northern Ireland as the remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo sweep across the Atlantic.
The severe warning will be in place from Thursday afternoon, 03 October, when winds are expected to pick up.
"A spell of strong south-easterly winds may bring some transport disruption later on Thursday," the Met Office said.
Gusts of up to 60mph are expected, with the alert in place from 3pm to 10pm.
Delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with some coastal routes and exposed communities to be affected by spray and large waves.
Short term loss of power and other services is also possible, forecasters have advised.
The powerful storm is currently lashing the Azore Islands in Portugal with maximum sustained winds of 90mph.
