Cyber Security Firm To Create 120 Jobs In Belfast
A Californian cybersecurity company is creating 120 jobs as it opens a new development and delivery centre in Belfast.
Contrast Security is the latest firm in the sector to invest in Northern Ireland.
Invest NI is supporting the international expansion with £786,500 towards the jobs, which will have an average salary of over £30,000.
CEO at Contrast Security Alan Naumann said the strong talent pool and neighbouring European customer base were among their reasons for joining the local cybersecurity sector.
"Access to experienced professionals, strong technical universities, and the proximity to our European customer base makes Northern Ireland the right choice for this new centre," he said.
"There are 30 million developers worldwide and our job is to enable them to easily deliver software that is inherently secure and built to withstand sophisticated attacks. To do this, we have ambitious plans to expand our footprint across Europe and the team here in Northern Ireland will be crucial to helping us achieve this."
Created over the next three years, the roles at Contrast Security will generate almost £4 million each year for the local economy.
The company pioneers new ways in making software safe from cyber attacks and serves firms worldwide in financial services, eCommerce, retail, insurance, healthcare, enterprise IT and technology companies.
The cybersecurity industry in Northern Ireland is on course to employ almost 1,700 cybersecurity professionals, generating salaries of over £70m each year in the field.
Outgoing Invest NI CEO Alastair Hamilton said demand for the services provided by the company continue to grow.
"In today's digital world every major company across almost every industry is building software to empower the digital experiences consumers expect," Mr Hamilton said.
"As more products and services are procured, delivered or operated via the internet, the risk of security breaches by well organised, highly motivated criminals increases daily."
A team of software developers will be recruited to create new products, as well as sales and marketing teams to support Contrast Security's European expansion plans.
