Van Hijacked At Gunpoint In Belfast

Police are hunting two men after a van was hijacked at gunpoint in the Grosvenor Road area of west Belfast.

The driver had parked the White Renault Traffic van on the route at around 10.20am on Monday morning, 23 September, when he was approached by the two males, one of whom is believed to have been armed with a gun.

The assailants snatched the keys off the driver and drove off. The vehicle was later discovered in the Lisvarna Heights area of the city, with a number of bags of cigarettes stolen.

Police said the van driver was left badly shaken by the ordeal.

The two males were described as having their faces covered and wearing hats and a dark gloves. One is described as wearing a dark puffer style jacket and was of stocky build.

Detective Sergeant Corrigan said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or saw these two men alight from this vehicle in the Lisvarna Heights area to contact detectives in Belfast on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 510 of 23/09/19."

Post Office Van Driver Hijacked In West Belfast
A post office van driver has been hijacked and threatened with a knife in west Belfast. The vehicle was stolen in Ross Road on Tuesday which was later found abandoned in the Valleyside Close area. A security alert was launched and the part of the Springfield Road was closed on Wednesday, however it has since been re-opened.

Van Driver Hijacked In West Belfast
A driver has been attacked after being hijacked in west Belfast on Thursday. The incident happened in the Springfield Drive area at around 4.50am. A man ran in front of the van driver's vehicle, broke the side window with a bottle and assaulted him. The driver was ordered out of the van which was later found burnt out in the Distillery Street area.

Van hijacked in south Belfast
Police in south Belfast have appealed for information following a hijacking incident earlier today. At around 11am, a delivery man had stopped at traffic lights outside of the Gasworks on the Lower Ormeau Road, when a man jumped into the passengers seat of his vehicle.

Police have launched an investigation after a delivery driver was threatened at knifepoint in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Ardcaoin area of Poleglass at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, 18 July. The suspects threatened the pizza delivery driver, assaulted him, stole a sum of cash and made off.

Van bomb partially explodes before area was cleared
Police have said that the van bomb left in Belfast City centre this morning had partially exploded before the area had been fully cleared. Speaking at the scene, Chief Inspector Bill Brown said: "We received several warnings through the media and my officers responded and cleared the scene.
