Soldier F Case Heard In Court

The prosecution case of a former British soldier accused of two murders on Bloody Sunday is due to begin in court.

Soldier F, who is now in his 60s, is not expected to appear at L'Derry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday but will be represented by his legal team.

The former paratrooper faces two counts of murder, of William McKinney and James Wray, and five counts of attempted murder.

Thirteen people were killed and 15 wounded when the regiment opened fire on civil rights demonstrators on Sunday 30 January 1972.

The day later became known as Bloody Sunday.

The Northern Ireland Public Prosecution Service announced in March that Soldier F was to be charged.
