Man Armed With Samurai Sword Robs Off-Licence

Police are appealing for information after a man wielding a samurai sword robbed a business in east Belfast.

An off-licence in the Woodstock Road area was targeted at around 8.45pm on Sunday evening, 15 September, by a man armed with the 2' long sword.

The suspect demanded cash and ran off with a sum of money in the direction of the Cregagh Road.

No injuries were reported.

Police have released a description of the man, who was around 5'8" tall, approximately 40-years-old and of thin build with dark facial stubble. He wore a grey coloured flat cap, a black raincoat and a dark coloured plaid shirt. The sword was described as being around 2' long with a black handle and black blade.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may be able to assist with enquiries to contact them at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1840 15/09/19. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
