Victims' Commissioner Judith Thompson Reappointed
Northern Ireland Victims' Commissioner Judith Thompson has been reappointed in her role for another year.
The secretary of state opted to extend her term despite recent calls for her replacement.
Some have questioned her credibility following recommendations she presented to the Northern Ireland Office about a Troubles pension that gave no distinction between victims of attack and those who had been hurt while carrying out attacks.
Ms Thompson claimed the changing of the legal definition of a victim was a political matter.
NI Secretary Julian Smith has since announced that she will continue in the job until August 2020.
He said: "I have decided to renew the Commissioner's term for 12 months, in order to provide immediate continuity of this essential role and allow Stormont's political leaders - once they are back up and running - to determine the long term future of this role."
