Cold Callers Offering Knives For Sale In Co Down

The PSNI is reminding members of the public to be vigilant when dealing with cold callers following reports of individuals offering knives for sale in County Down.

A number incidents were reported in the village of Donaghcloney, near Craigavon, in recent days. The individuals were last seen in the Main Street area, calling to doors and driving in a red panel van.

A spokesperson for PSNI Craigavon warned: "Please be careful when dealing with callers to the door, always ask for ID, and if you entertain obtaining their services or items for sale always ask for a written quote before any work or services are provided.

"These cold callers prey on elderly and vulnerable people in our area. Lets help keep everyone safe."

Anyone whose house is approached in suspicious circumstances, or who witnesses vehicles acting suspiciously in the area or further afield is urged to contact police on 101 or 999 in the case of an emergency.
