Torrential Rain Set To Continue This Weekend

Northern Ireland appears set for a weekend of torrential rain as forecasters warn of thunderstorms and potential flooding.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather alerts covering most of the province until 6am on Sunday.

Heavy downpours and a likelihood of flooding are expected throughout today, Friday 09, with a rain warning in place until midnight. Disruption to train and bus services may occur where flooding occurs and longer journey times are expected on the roads.

The Met Office alert will switch to a thunderstorm warning on Saturday, as slow-moving thundery showers continue with the potential for torrential downpours.

The weather threats come as a low-pressure area moves into position over the UK.
