New Childcare Support And Provision Policy In Development

The DUP is seeking input on the development of a new policy on the childcare support and provision in Northern Ireland.

Calling on interested groups to engage with them on the issue, DUP Education Spokesman, Peter Weir, said: "The DUP wishes to see a long-term approach to childcare that can deliver:

• That all parents have access to good quality and affordable childcare for their children.

• We ensure parents can access, stay and progress in paid work and in turn contribute to our economy in Northern Ireland.

• That all types of childcare providers are enabled to provide high quality and accessible childcare, and the childcare workforce is valued.

"To this end we are beginning a substantial consultation on the approaches the DUP should support and implement at all levels of government – Westminster, Assembly and Councils. I encourage those organisations and communities interested in this topic to engage with our Policy Unit in the coming weeks and months and ensure their views are heard."
