Protestant Hall Targeted In 'Disgraceful' Attack
Political representatives have hit out after a Protestant Hall in County Antrim was targeted in what has been described as a sectarian attack.
The Orange Hall in Glenavy, a rural village near Lisburn, had three glass jars of white paint thrown at it sometime between 1.30am and 10am on Monday 22 July.
Police are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and have appealed for witnesses.
Ulster Unionist Councillor Ross McLernon condemned the overnight attack as an attempt to ignite tensions in the area.
The Killultagh representative said: "I was extremely disappointed to learn of the disgraceful attack on Glenavy Protestant hall this morning. It was a despicable thing to do and is designed to try and stir up division. It is especially discouraging given how the 12th parade through the village passed off peacefully and harmoniously.
"The Glenavy area is a place where the vast majority of people seek to create a shared space for all. I hope that those responsible are caught and brought before the courts as soon as possible and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this cowardly attack to contact the PSNI as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Alliance Councillor David Honeyford said the act was a "pointless attack on the entire community" that will only lead to further division.
He added: "Glenavy is a village that is a fantastic living example of what a shared future can look like, and I find it disgusting that a small number of individuals would choose to attack the hall in our village.
"Orange culture is part of what makes up Ireland and should be respected by everyone."
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 434 of 22/07/19. Details can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are treating an attack on an Orange Hall in Crumlin, Co Antrim, as a hate crime. The PSNI received a report that a bin was on fire in the Main Street area of the town at around 4.30am on Thursday, 12 July. Graffiti was daubed on a wall and door of the memorial hall. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

'IRA' Graffiti Daubed On Orange Hall
Republican graffiti has been daubed on an Orange Hall in County Antrim during an overnight attack. The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland has condemned the graffiti, which was daubed on the exterior of Fourscore Orange Hall outside Glenavy. The graffiti included 'IRA' slogans and 'Orange scum'.

Orange Hall arson attack 'sectarian'
An arson attack on an Orange Hall in Co Armagh has been described as "sectarian". Newry and Armagh Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kennedy said the attack on Ballyrea Orange Hall on the Baltarran Road in Armagh was also an "attack on Protestant culture".

Rosslea Orange Hall Destroyed By Fire
A fire in County Fermanagh has destroyed an Orange hall in the early hours of Friday morning. Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of the blaze at Inver Orange Hall in Rosslea, which is a result of a suspected arson attack. The alert was raised after a woman who lives nearby saw the flames.
