Homes Evacuated As Security Alert Sparked In West Belfast

Residents were evacuated from their homes earlier today, Monday 22 July, after a security alert was sparked in west Belfast.

The police operation, which has now ended, saw roads closed and cordons erected at Glenalina Road and Glenalina Crescent while officers dealt with a suspicious object.

ATO examined the object before it was removed for further examination. All roads and have since reopened and residents allowed to return to their homes.

SDLP representative for the area Paul Doherty said the alert caused significant disruption for the local community. He commented this morning: "Once again a security alert in West Belfast has caused significant disruption for local people, forcing them from their homes first thing on a Monday morning."

Sinn Fein MLA Pat Sheehan added that the local community faced an inconvenience as the matter was dealt with.

Residents Return To Homes After Security Alert In North Belfast Ends
Residents have returned to their homes following a security alert in north Belfast. A suspicious object was discovered at the junction of North Queen Street and Brougham Street on Tuesday, however it was found to be 'nothing untoward'. Army bomb experts examined the object on Tuesday evening.

Residents Evacuated In North Belfast Alert
Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in north Belfast following a report of a suspicious object in the area. The homes in Clifton Crescent were evacuated after the report of an object in the area on Monday afternoon. An army bomb squad has been tasked to the scene and the area has been closed to traffic.

Suspicious Object Sparks Antrim Security Alert
Police are currently dealing with a security alert in County Antrim. The discovery of a suspicious object sparked the operation on the A6 Belfast Road on Thursday 31 January. The road has been closed between the New Lodge and Rathmore roads. Diversions are in place and airport traffic is not likely to be affected.

Homes Evacuated In West Belfast Security Alert
A number of homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object in west Belfast. The object was found in the Slieveban Avenue area of Andersontown at 11.30am on Wednesday 07 November. No main roads have been affected by the security alert. There are no further details at this time.
