Employment Boost As M&S Opens In Co Antrim

A County Antrim town is set for an employment boost as retailer Marks & Spencer opens a new store.

50 jobs will be created in the new outlet at the Shore Commercial Park in Carrickfergus.

The opening on Wednesday 31 July will bring the retail chain's total number of stores in Northern Ireland to 21.

The Mayor of Mid and east Antrim Borough Council welcomed the news. Councillor Maureen Morrow said: "I very much welcome the opening of Marks and Spencer in Carrickfergus and with it the creation of new jobs.

"Growing the economy is one of Council’s key priorities so I am delighted to see this plan coming to fruition.

"This new store will make a significant contribution to our Borough and will attract more people to the area."
