Woman Critical After Lough Erne Rescue
A woman is in a critical condition after being pulled from a submerged car in Lough Erne, County Fermanagh.
Police received a report of a vehicle in the water at Muckros Pier on the Boa Island Road in Kesh at around 10.25pm on Saturday 15 June.
Two officers from a nearby patrol entered the lake and managed to free the woman from the sinking car. A third officer also entered the water to ensure no one else was inside the vehicle. All three required hospital treatment after the incident, while the woman remains in critical condition.
Inspector John Gordon praised the responding officers and said: "I commend the brave actions of the police officers involved and my thoughts and prayers are with the female and her family this morning."
DUP leader Arlene Foster, an MLA for the area, said the community was in shock at the news. "Thinking of the woman involved and her family this morning," she added. "The police are to be commended for their quick action last night."
