Somme Mural Vandalised In Lurgan
Police are appealing for witnesses after a mural in Lurgan dedicated to the Battle of the Somme was vandalised.
White paint was strewn over the Somme commemoration in the Avenue Road area. The damage was reported this morning, Monday 10 June.
The Avenue Road Somme Society, which maintains the mural, said it will not be deterred by the attack.
A spokesperson commented: "Once again the ignorant and uneducated fools have attacked a memorial to our Brave. This mural is historical and educational and great words spoken by both sides of the community is something that we hold highly.
"Paint washes off and we will continue to educate our town of the True Heroes Of Ulster.
"Anyone with any information on this attack please don't be afraid to pass it on to the correct people."
Details can be passed to police by calling non-emergency line 101.
