New IRA Graffiti Appears At Site Of Lyra McKee's Murder

Graffiti purporting to be in support of the New IRA has appeared in the Creggan area of L'Derry, warning the community against passing information to the police.

The slogans appeared this morning, Thursday 02 May, metres from the spot where journalist Lyra McKee was shot on Thursday April 18.

The 29-year-old died of the injuries she sustained when a dissident republican linked to the New IRA fired indiscriminately during a night of rioting.

Painted on a wall, one message reads "informers will be executed" while another says "IRA here to stay".

It comes as the PSNI have offered anonymity for anyone who comes forward as a witness to the murder or with information about Lyra's death. Police have also released CCTV footage of the suspected gunman and urged witnesses to come forward.

A £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible has also been offered by Crimestoppers.
