Appeal After Spate Of Burglaries & Criminal Damage In East Belfast
Police are appealing for information following two burglaries at residential properties and a number of car break-ins in east Belfast.
An investigation has been launched following the incidents, which police believe are all linked, in the Ravenhill Road and Ardenlee Avenue areas yesterday, Tuesday 30 April.
In the most serious instance, shortly after 7am, a householder disturbed a man in their property in the Ardenlee Avenue area. The man fled the scene following a brief altercation.
Meanwhile, police were nearby responding to an earlier report of a burglary at a vacant residential property. After carrying out a comprehensive search of the area they were unable to locate the male.
He is described as being aged in his mid-thirties, around 5'8" in height and of stocky build with gingery brown, crew cut hair and a short beard. He was reported to be wearing a green zipped parka style jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and black gloves.
Officers are also investigating reports of criminal damage to four vehicles in the area. Windows were broken and items stolen from three cars and one van. Follow-up searches recovered a jacket, screwdriver and bicycle as well as a quantity of tools.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "We believe that each of these incidents are linked. If you noticed any suspicious activity in the Ravenhill Road/Ardenlee areas this morning, or have any information which could assist us with our enquiries, please call us on 101 quoting reference number 197 30/04/19."
