Police arrest four during Newry drugs swoop

Four people have been arrested today after police seized drugs worth £200,000 in a planned swoop in Newry, Co Down.

Forty kilos of cannabis resin was discovered after two cars were searched by police in the Edward Street area of the city in the early hours of the morning.

The vehicles were taken away for further examination.

Three of the individuals, two women and one man, are from the Manchester area, while a second man was from Newry.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

£250k Resurfacing Announced For Newry Road
A major £250,000 road resurfacing scheme has been announced for the A25 Newry Road. The works will comprise of approximately 0.65km of carriageway resurfacing of the A25 Newry Road through Camlough village, from south of the U1583, known as Hall Road, to just beyond C217 Chapel Road roundabout.

New Police Station Opens In Co Down
A new police station has opened in Downpatrick, Co Don. The new facility provides a base for Local Policing Teams who respond to calls for assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It also includes an Enquiry Office which allows people to report crime, sign bail or arrange to speak to police.
