Thieves Target Two Co Antrim Building Sites
Police are appealing for information amid reports of thefts from two building sites in the Greenisland area of County Antrim.
In the first incident, which happened in Chantry Gardens between 7pm on Monday 15 April and 7am the following morning, criminals forced entry into a number of properties and made off with various tools, appliances, boilers and radiators.
The theft has delayed work on the area and contractors are now required to purchase new equipment in order to carry on working. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call 101, quoting reference 178 of 16/04/19.
Meanwhile, the second incident happened between 5.45pm yesterday and 7.30am this morning, Wednesday 17 April, on the Shore Road. Criminals made off with a large cement mixer believed to be worth around £4000. The incident number for reports relating to this theft is 183 of 17/04/19.
A police spokesperson said: "I appreciate it's quite a time scale but it's early stages and we need further information to narrow this down. These are contractors building in our area, investing in our area and doing a hard day's work. Criminals are clearly avoiding such a work ethic so help us support these workers. If you see anything suspicious in and around sites report it immediately."
The PSNI is working to make local contractors aware of the criminal activity and equip them with suitable crime prevention advice.
