Police Appeal After Pipe Bomb Explodes In L'Derry

Detectives are investigating after a pipe bomb exploded outside a house in L'Derry.

The device detonated in the front garden of a residential property in Montgomery Close at around 2am on Sunday 31 March.

No damage was caused to the property, but police said the occupants were lucky to escape uninjured.

Detective Sergeant Richard Donnell said: "Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 91 of 31/03/19.

"Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Three people have escaped injury after a pipe bomb exploded in the garden of a house in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Erne Gardens area at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, 25 January. Army bomb disposal experts attend the scene and declared it a "viable bomb type device". It has now been removed for further forensic examination.

Woman Injured After Refrigeration Unit Explodes In College In L'Derry
A woman has suffered minor injuries after a refrigeration unit exploded at a college in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Tower Building of the North West Regional College shortly after 8:40am today, 12 April. The unit blew up in the first floor canteen of the building.
