Elderly Woman Loses Sentimental Jewellery In Robbery

A 96-year-old woman has been left distressed after her house in south Belfast was targeted in a robbery.

Intruders targeted the home on Finaghy Road South at around 9pm last Friday, 15 March, and stole sentimental jewellery.

The woman was not believed to have been confronted during the ordeal, but has been left shaken.

Balmoral Representative Michael Mulhern said he is outraged at the crime. "It is an absolute disgrace to learn that one of our elderly neighbours was targeted in a robbery. Everyone should have the right to feel safe in their own home including and especially the elderly.

"To target vulnerable members of our community like this is absolutely apprehensible. Finaghy is a tight-knit community and many residents will be alarmed by this incident.

"I would appeal to anyone with information to contact the PSNI."

Details can be passed by contacting officers on 101 quoting reference 1357.
