Pipe Bomb Explodes Outside Craigavon House

An elderly woman has been treated for shock after a pipe bomb exploded outside her house in Craigavon.

The device detonated at around 12.50am this morning, Thursday 07 March, in the Burnside area.

Police said damage was caused to the front door and hallway of the property.

Sinn Fein representative for the area Michael Tallon has condemned the attack, saying it was the work of "criminal gangs intent on bringing harm and disruption to the community".

"This was a terrifying ordeal for this elderly woman. I would urge anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI.

"Sinn Féin will be meeting the police in relation to this and other serious incidents in the area."

Police have asked anyone who saw what happened or has further information to contact officers in Lurgan on 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
