Moy firm secures £200,000 contract
A Moy manufacturing company has won an export contract worth over £200,000 for the supply of its unique ejector unit for waste transportation.
BMI Trailers secured the contract with Cork County Council just two years after its owners identified a gap in the market for locally manufactured ejector units.
BMI Trailers designed and developed the unit to CE mark standard with the assistance of Invest Northern Ireland and since going into production has secured a healthy share of the BULK waste transportation trailer market in Ireland.
Brendan Mc Ilvanna, BMI’s Managing Director said "This is a significant contract for us and reflects the company’s increasing profile in the Republic of Ireland. We have already exceeded our planned turnover level in our first two years despite being in a competitive market. I believe that this is because we have been able to differentiate our product in the marketplace and show customers the clear benefits of using our units.”
The company has now set its sights on Europe and is planning to develop an innovative lightweight trailer for the European bulk waste transportation market. It is currently in talks with Invest NI about getting assistance to develop a prototype.
BMI Trailers currently employ 15 full-time and 1 part-time staff, and exports 95% of its output to the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
