Coleraine Based Insurance Firm To Sponsor North West 200 Race
An online insurance provider based in Coleraine is set to sponsor the Supertwin Race at the North West 200 in May this year.
MCL InsureTech, a widely used provider in the Republic of Ireland, is expanding its operations into Northern Ireland and will sponsor the Thursday evening race during the popular motorcycle meeting in Portrush.
The firm currently insures one in every 20 vehicles in the Republic, an operation worth almost £70.5 million.
"We're now expanding our business and launching our brands in Northern Ireland," said Gary McClarty, Chief Executive of MCL InsureTech Ltd.
"Our aim is to secure 5% to 10% of the local online car insurance market within five years and our involvement in sponsorship of the International NW200 will help us to grow our brand."
As part of its Northern Ireland expansion plan, the firm will create 10 new jobs in the next six months, with a further 40 positions envisaged over the next three to five years. Staff numbers at the organisation have more than tripled over the last decade from 30 to 102.
NW200 Event Director, Mervyn White said: "The North West 200 is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2019 and MCL InsureTech's Republic of Ireland operation is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
"Both play an important role in the economy of the North Coast region and we hope the global exposure MCL InsureTech will receive as a result of the sponsorship of the Supertwin Race will assist this leading insurance provider with its expansion plans."
MCL's flagship brands in the Republic are: its4women.ie which provides online insurance for women, 25plus.ie which offers cover for online home, car, travel, health and property insurance for those over the age of 25, and bowxymo.ie which rewards better driving and offers younger drivers competitive insurance.
The company also owns a software programming company DotSys Ltd which provides financial software solutions to the financial services industry.
