Ammunition Seized In Poleglass Search

Police have discovered a haul of ammunition while carrying out searches in west Belfast.

A number of officers, along with an Army disposal team scoured the area close to the junction of Bell Steel Road and Brians Well Road on Sunday 20 January.

Ammunition was found in an area of undergrowth that backs on to Glenbawn Crescent.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Brown said: "Detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) conducted a planned search in the Bell Steel area of West Belfast in relation to an ongoing investigation into dissident republican activity.

"A quantity of suspected ammunition was recovered during this search. It has been taken away for further forensic examination."

War Memorial Damaged In County Armagh 'Hate Crime'

Police are investigating a hate crime after reports of criminal damage to wreaths at a war memorial in County Armagh.

The incident took place in the Main Street area of Loughgall on Saturday 19 January.

Police received the report shortly before 2am, and believe a number of males were involved in the damage which they are treating as a hate crime.

"We would appeal to anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 130 of 19/1/19," Inspector Leslie Badger of Portadown Neighbourhood Policing Team said.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Ice Warning Issued For Northern Ireland

A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for Northern Ireland.

It will come into force at 9pm on Monday 21 January and last until 11am on Tuesday.

Members of the public are urged to take extra care and be aware of the risk of injury from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Ice may also cause dangerous driving conditions, especially on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A band of rain will clear Northern Ireland on Monday evening with surface temperatures falling away behind this and icy stretches likely to form on some untreated surfaces.

"Wintry showers will push into the country from the northwest overnight, with a few centimetres possible across northern and western counties, especially over higher ground."

Man Arrested In Connection With Ammunition Seizure
Police in Belfast have arrested a 55-year-old in connection with an ammunition seizure. The man was detained on suspicion of possessing ammunition in suspicious circumstances after the seizure was made during a search operation in the New Lodge area of Belfast.

A 46-year-old man is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates Court later today facing a number of drugs charges. The man is charged with possession of a Class C drug, possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply, and cultivation of a Class C drug.

Man Arrested Under Terrorism Act
A man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act in Co Tyrone. The 34-year-old was detained in the Coalisland area on Tuesday, 19 June. He is currently in custody at Musgrave police station. The arrest is in relation to a weapons and ammunition find at a garage in the Mountjoy Road in 2011.

Four Arrested In Cross-Border Car Theft Investigation
Police have arrested four people following the discovery of a series of cars thought to have been stolen in the Republic of Ireland. Officers from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch made the arrests following searches at two properties in the Enniskillen area on Tuesday.

Police Appeal After Racist Hate Crime
Police are appealing for information after a number of homes in County Armagh were daubed with racist graffiti. The incident happened in the Moyraverty Centre area of Craigavon on the morning of Thursday 24 January. Police said the vandalism was carried out sometime between 4am and 7.10am. It has since been removed from the properties.
