PSNI Warn Over Trouble At Belfast Interface
The PSNI has issued a warning to the young people of Belfast after trouble at various interface areas across the city.
It follows a number of incidents on Sunday night, 06 January.
Police were called to Carlisle Circus and the Girdwood site in north Belfast.
A spokesperson said in a post on Facebook: "We had some reports earlier of young people gathered up at Carlisle Circus for some sort of altercation.
"Officers from my Court North NPT attended along with colleagues from Tennent Street LPT and assisted by our CCTV operatives we managed to disperse the crowd without anybody actually coming into conflict.
"My NPT officers then went up to Cliftonpark Avenue where they came across a large crowd in the Girdwood site who were not from the local area. Certainly Ballysillan and Tiger's Bay are not too close!
"We ascertained that some sort of fight had been arranged with young people from the nationalist community, but that we managed to get there before it had started.
"A number of the young people ran off, but we managed to get the details of over 10 of them, all of whom will have their parents and our youth diversion officer informed."
The officer also warned that those involved in trouble on the streets will be "dealt with" appropriately.
He added: "The lesson needs to be that if you are going to an interface area looking for trouble, then we will deal with you when we get the opportunity. So stay away from bother at interfaces, and indeed at other areas, and help to keep yourself and your friends safe."
