Woman Beaten While Walking To Her Car In Portadown

A woman has been beaten on the head with a stick or bat while walking to her car in Portadown.

The attack took place in the Lisnisky Lodge area of the County Armagh town at around 7am on Tuesday 18 December.

The victim was struck from behind and fell to the ground. She was hit several more times on both her head and body before the assailant fled the scene.

The victim received treatment in hospital for her injuries which include cuts and bruises.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on non-emergency line 101, quoting reference number 309 of 18 December.

An 18-year-old woman has died following a single vehicle road crash in L'Derry. The collision occurred on the Letterkenny Road at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, 12 September. The victim was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa that was involved in the crash close to Nixon's Corner.

Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A woman was convicted at Craigavon Crown court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to. Ann Dougan, 32, of Willowfield, Tandragee, claimed Income Support totalling £1,028 while failing to declare employment and that she was living with her partner. She was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

Proposals To Ban U-18 E-Cigarettes
Proposals have been announced by the Department of Health to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to under-18s. Health Minister Edwin Poots said: "The popularity of e-cigarettes has grown rapidly in recent years.
