Body Found On Portstewart Promenade

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man's body on rocks along the North Coast on the morning of Sunday 02 December.

The remains were found at around 11.15am near the lower promenade in Portstewart.

The area was cordoned off and combed by forensic officers.

A PSNI spokesperson said that it is unclear whether the death was suspicious or not.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Man Charged Over Margaret Evans Murder
A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder Margaret Evans in June. Ms Evans, who was 69 and known as Margo, was found beaten to death at her home in Knockancor Drive in Portstewart, County Londonderry on 4 June. The man was detained on Thursday evening. He has also been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Murder Investigation Launched In Portstewart
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman's body on Wednesday afternoon in Portstewart. Police say that the body of 69-year-old Margaret Evans as found at her home in Knockancor Drive. A post-mortem is due to take place today, but police say that Mrs Evans had been beaten.

Man arrested over Portstewart death
Man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body at a house in Co Londonderry. The body of the 43-year-old mother-of-two, who has been named as Jillian Doherty, was discovered at around 3.45am this morning at Mill Road in Portstewart. It is believed she had been stabbed. Police have arrested a man in connection with the death.

Six Off-Duty Police Officers Arrested After Altercation In Portstewart
Six off-duty police officers have been arrested following an altercation outside licensed premises in Portstewart. In total eight people were arrested in connection with the incident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 01 June. Two of the people involved were foreign nationals and police are investigating a hate crime element.

Police Appeal For Parents Of Baby Found Dead In 1984
Police have issued an appeal for the parents of a baby boy found dead on the banks of the River Lagan on 21 February 1984. A woman out walking her dog found the babies body inside a green plastic bag at Legacurry Road in Lisburn 30 years ago. A post-mortem examination found that the baby had died of head injuries.
