Police appeal for information on shotgun attack

Police are appealing for information following the shooting of a man in Co Antrim early this morning.

The 26-year-old victim was sitting in a car at Hazeldene Drive in Bushmills at around 6.15am when one shot was fired from a shotgun hitting the man.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, however his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The assailant is believed to have made off on foot in the direction of Esdale Park.

Police said they do not believe the incident was sectarian.

The victim was shot in both ankles, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Four masked men are believed to have been involved in the shooting.

Man Arrested Over Paramilitary-Style Shooting In L'Derry
A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
