A 22-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car on the M1 in County Tyrone.

Daryl Thompson from the Beragh area died from injuries he sustained in the collision, which happened near Dungannon, on the evening of Saturday 10 November.

He was struck by a car while walking between junction 14 and 15 of the motorway.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the motorway around 10.20pm and witnessed the incident to contact them.

Writing on social media, SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan said the death was "tragic news".

"Another young life lost on our roads," he added.

"My thoughts and prayers are with this young man, the Thompson family, his friends and the community of Beragh."
